WHO WE ARE

WHO WE ARE | SENIOR MANAGEMENT BIOS | DRIVING DIRECTIONS

Hawthorne Media is a full service business-to-business marketing and public relations and media strategy agency with nearly two decades of experience in helping companies market and promote business products and services.

Founded by Christine Sullivan in 1986, Hawthorne Media remains a family business. John Neely, Hawthorne's president and Sullivan's husband joined Hawthorne in 1995 after leading product development, strategic planning and marketing at Bay Bank. Previously, he served as a consultant for 10 years with Peter Merrill Associates and its acquirer, Golembe Associates, providing strategic planning and market analysis to a broad range of banking and financial services clients.

In 2005, John Neely Jr. joined Hawthorne, continuing a family tradition in marketing and strategic consulting.  Before joining Hawthorne, John worked in the film industry in numerous capacities, most recently co-producing a documentary feature in South Africa and editing the award-winning film Amazing Grace: Jeff Buckley.  During the past decade, John worked as an interactive media consultant, art director and designer in San Francisco and Seattle and attended Stanford University where he received an MA in Communication.

Christine Sullivan remains a vital mentor and advisor to Hawthorne as founder. She is now Director of a large business incubator center - the Enterprise Center at Salem State College (www.enterprisectr.org) - and works with business, education and government on a range of economic development initiatives.

Hawthorne Media is located in historic Salem Massachusetts, known for its wealth of early American architecture and the witch trials of the late 1600's.  Home to the House of the Seven Gables, immortalized by Nathanial Hawthorne in the book of the same name, and the renowned Peabody Essex Museum, Salem is a place where the past inspires the future:  Recent initiatives in Salem include the creation of a downtown WiFi zone and the Creative Economy Association of the North Shore, the first organization of its kind in the US.
